Broncos Won't Pursue Vikings QB in FA After Russell Wilson Exit

The Denver Broncos are not expected to pursue Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins if he hits free agency, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Russini noted that the Broncos had "some conversations" about making a run at Cousins, but they have reportedly decided against it.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero previously listed Denver as a team that is expected to pursue the 35-year-old, although that no longer appears to be the case after some internal discussions.

The Broncos will likely still be on the lookout for a new quarterback after they released Russell Wilson on March 4.

Denver took on $85 million in dead cap by cutting ties with Wilson, representing the largest dead cap hit in NFL history.

With the team releasing Wilson after just two seasons, it's easy to see why the front office may be hesitant to hand out a long-term contract to another veteran quarterback.
