Dog ownership: the life I never wanted

Never have been, never will be a dog lover.

When I was just five years old, a neighbor's golden retriever knocked me down and I hit my face on the sidewalk.

That's why it's so unusual that Bo, a German shorthaired pointer,

Like Save And Share

hose me as his only guardian during the pandemic.

He's been an endless source of new obstacles I hadn't anticipated, and a drain on my energy and patience.

He's a daredevil who's prone to illness and injury, a chronic whiner

who requires constant attention, and a chronic complainer.
