How to cut your dog's nails properly

Maintaining a regular grooming routine, including regular nail cutting 

Your dog's legs and posture will suffer if its nails are allowed to grow too long. 

The American Kennel Club offers the following advice for maintaining healthy canine nails.

Acclimate yourself. Nail trimming can be stressful for both dog and owner because many dogs aren't used to having 

their feet lifted up or caressed and may feel vulnerable or anxious as a result. You should get in the habit  

Know anatomy. It's helpful to understand dog nail and paw anatomy. Clip the shell tip of the nail.  

Due to lack of control, many dogs are uncomfortable having their feet lifted up or touched,
